To analyze the link between gene/intron size and chromatin structure, the genes were separated into three categories (less than 1 kb, 1 4 kb, and more than 4 kb) and the introns were separated into 5 categories (81 bp or less, 81 200 bp, 201 bp – 1 kb, 1 10 kb, and larger than 10 kb).
Unlike BCG where multiple large chromosomal deletions underlie its virulence attenuation [19], [55], our whole genome sequencing analysis indicated that H37Ra has no gross deletions but instead has about 8 kb more DNA than H37Rv.
Our scheme requires approximately 19 KB more program memory than Deluge, and approximately 3 KB more RAM data storage space than Deluge.
Consistent with this, LESA isolates had an average of 70 kb more accessory genome than non-LESA isolates (n.s., P > 0.18).
Our cases, on average only carried one more CNV than population controls, but each event was, on average, 12 kb longer and the total CNV length across the genome therefore totalled 200 kb more in cases than population controls.
For intergenic miRNAs, we inherited pioneer operations [ 35] to group them into genomic clusters where in each cluster every two proximate miRNAs were separated by not more than 7.5 kb (more explanation is found in Additional file 1).
The transcripts are heterogeneous with the size profile ranging from approx. 0.5 kb to more than 5 kb, matching those characteristic for the centromeric, 180 bp satellite of Arabidopsis thaliana [25].
