In earlier work, researchers found a similar dynamic at work in people's judgment of intervals that last only moments.
Judgments about interval duration were reported at two laterally located nose ports: choosing the left side was reinforced with water after intervals longer than 1.5 seconds (long stimuli), and the right side otherwise (short stimuli, Figure 1b).
In all individual sessions, muscimol infusions produced a significant decrease in the sensitivity of animals' judgments to interval duration as compared to saline infusions performed on the previous day.
Twelve mild AD patients were required to make temporal judgments about intervals either ranging from 100 to 600 ms (short time bisection task) or from 1000 to 3000 ms (long time bisection task).
Decision-makers usually find that it is more confident to give interval judgments than fixed value judgments.

Jing et al. [21] further integrated the uniform distribution with interval judgment to a hybrid stochastic-interval analytic hierarchy process (SIAHP) framework for group decision making on wastewater reuse.
They distinguished between "motor timing" tasks for which the timing of the response itself provided the dependent measure of performance and "perceptual timing" tasks for which the time of the response was not important; on their account, reproduction, production and tapping tasks represent motor timing tasks whereas interval judgment and estimation tasks represent non-motor tasks.
In particular, it required the listener to perform an interval judgment between the second last note and the last note of the item within the tonal context established by the preceding intervals of the arpeggiated sequence (Fig. 1 b ).
Participants made an unspeeded two-interval forced choice judgment as to which interval contained the pop-out grating.
First, both subjects performed normally on interval judgments with sub-second stimuli for which counting would not be expected to help.
