The patients included were comparable to the whole population of osteoarthritis patients treated at our hospital during the same period, with respect to age (mean 66 (43 89) years in the study sample and 69 (18 93) years in all other patients; p = 0.002), sex (65% females vs. 63% females, respectively; p = 0.6), and operated joint (proportion of knee replacements: 61% vs. 57%; p = 0.3).
