C13* cells were stably transfected with pcDNA3.1-DN-Akt2 and A2780s cells were stably transfected with pcDNA3-Myr-Akt2 in the laboratory of Dr Jin Cheng (Moffatt Cancer Center, Tampa, FL, USA) and maintained in RPMI-1640 or DMEM/F12, respectively, each containing G418 (250 μg ml−1; Invitrogen).
