In just the last two years, Sears, Roebuck dropped 120 health maintenance organizations and kept 65; American Express jettisoned 164 health plans and kept only 48.
That sounds impressive until one realizes that more than 140 other prime-time shows — including the quickly jettisoned "3 Lbs" on CBS and National Bingoo Night" on ABC — drew more eyeballs.
