The bedside information system revealed a mean IV calorie intake of 154 kcal/day and reaching 370 kcal/day in some patients.
Exclusion criteria were: i) Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, ii) documented extrapulmonary infection, iii) neutropenia; and iv) oral intake of corticosteroids defined as any more than 1 mg/kg of prednisone for more than 1 month.
In Grade IV patients, moderate/high intake of cryptoxanthin and high intake of secoisolariciresinol were associated with poorer survival among all cases.

In rats, acute administration of APOA-IV suppresses food intake (Fujimoto et al., 1992; Fujimoto et al., 1993b; Wang et al., 2013a).
Over 20 years ago, Fujimoto et al. (Fujimoto et al., 1992; Fujimoto et al., 1993b) demonstrated that acute, peripheral administration of APOA-IV decreases food intake in rats due to reduced meal size.
Treatment included encouraging oral intake, intravenous (IV) fluids and platelet transfusions.
(IV, C) A moderate intake of alcohol (up to 10 g/day in women and 20 g/day in men) is acceptable, if the patient wishes to take alcoholic drinks.
Likewise, those with a lower level of education (occupations III and IV) had higher salt intake compared with those with the highest level of education (figure 2, top right panel; p for linear trend <0.0001; F=8.5; df=3).
