The methods used to measure and value health outcomes should be the most appropriate ones for the condition under evaluation and the study question, and should be stated for reasons of transparency and comparability of economic evaluations.
Finally, it should be stated that, especially for European countries and Australia, DRGs have been used less as a cost-containment device than as a method to establish case-mix adjusted global hospital budgets.
