By The New Yorker June 1, 2009 Our sister blog, The Book Club, has posted a three-part interview with the writer Geoff Dyer, in which he politely resists unravelling the mysteries of his new novel, "Jeff in Venice, Death in Varanasi" — "It's just me riffing in a vaguely eastern, mystical, is-it-profound-is-it-bollocks? kind of way" — but offers a few clues for the intrepid reader.

The book had in it press cuttings, Masters's own Ronald Searlinesh line drawings, and Stuart's running commentary on the work as it went: "It's bollocks boring … Nah, Alexander, you gotta start again".
"This idea that it's social cleansing," he says, "it's bollocks actually".
it's bollocks and all it does is create a psychological condition of helplessness in that individual, and that's what you don't want.
You know it, I know it – it's false bollocks, the lot of it," he said.
The "leave" camp has been playing up some serious rhetoric — some of it fair, some of it utter bollocks.
'Some of it was true, some of it was bollocks,' he told GQ recently when quizzed on the Courtney Love story.
It's a brilliant theory, with just one tiny flaw: it's bollocks.
