The other sources have no upper age limit, although relatively few respondents are older than age 75 (15percentt in the ISSP, 9percentt in the GGP, and 18percentt in the UNSOC among those aged 40 and over).
The main indicator of socioeconomic status available in all surveys is the education level of the respondent from the younger generation (the education level of the older generation is not generally available), with the exception of Northern Ireland (in the ISSP) and France (in the GGP).
Only one value is negative, Chile (in ISSP), and that value is close to zero.

For GSS and HILDA waves occurring before the first value is available, we take the first value available (which is only the case for the GSS before 1987); if the survey year is after the last value in the ISSP, we take the last ISSP value available (that is HILDA and GSS 2010).

In particular, we use the ISSP question on whether one thinks that 'race is important to get ahead' in order to build a measure of perceived racial inequality in the host country13.
Analyzing the 11 attitude items for the pooled ISSP samples, we find a change in public opinion toward greater acceptance of all sorts of non-marital arrangements.
In the context of the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) a data wizard was developed to merge ISSP country data sets into one harmonized and integrated internal analysis file, by detecting and cleaning deviations versus a pre-defined standard template[ 13].The wizard, in a user friendly interface, addressed the technicalities of merging datasets from different sources.
