Each static and dynamic factor was divided into classes (2 to 9 according to site feature), each of which was attributed a score related to its paludification "power" (between 0 and 5; 0 = null paludification "power" and 5 = high paludification "power").

Depending on the degree of sensitivity, strains were attributed a score from 1 to 3, while resistant strains were scored on a scale of -1 to -2.
As seen on Figure 5, subjects with the same peak torque would have been attributed a score of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and even 7.
At the bedside, the whole lung was examined as described above, and each region of interest was attributed a score according to four stages of lung aeration before and after antimicrobial therapy: normal, interstitial syndrome (B lines 7 mm apart), alveolar-interstitial syndrome (B lines less than 3 mm apart) and alveolar consolidation.
For ethical reasons, patients who were deemed to be incompetent were not interviewed for this study but were attributed a score of 0. We asked clinicians to predict the survival of the patient by using one of four categories: "days" (that is, less than 14 days), "weeks" (from two weeks to less than eight weeks), "months" (from two months to less than 12 months), and "years" (12 months or more).
As presented in supplemental Table S3, tumors showing low levels of MTUS1 transcripts by DNA array and/or real-time RT-PCR analysis also displayed undetectable or weak MTUS1 staining, whereas those expressing high levels of MTUS1 mRNA were attributed a high score by immunohistochemistry. Thus, results on protein expression paralleled gene array analysis.
This led to each trial being attributed a quality score out of a maximum of 6 points (Table 1).
