Our observation of the effect of irrelevancy load, besides the lack of any significant effect of sample or test sizes on frontal activities, indicates that module(s) underlying frontal activity is also a part of network which participates in irrelevancy filtering when the irrelevant objects are already stored in WM.
In previous section we showed that participants' RT increased as we increased the number of eliminated objects between sample and test sets (i.e. irrelevancy load) suggesting that participants used a filtering process to eliminate irrelevant objects from their WM.
We found that frontal N150 peak latency was better correlated with the number of irrelevant objects and not participants' RT and, presumably, attentional demand [21] of irrelevancy filtering.
In contrast to parietal N200 latencies, frontal N150 latency better encoded the amount of irrelevancy load in each trial and varied linearly with the number of irrelevant objects (r = 0.847, p<0.05).
This increases the overall segmentation time and also raises the chances of performing an error during segmentation, because more irrelevant objects and noises are encountered during the process.
The algorithm identifies the objects (in this case abandoned luggage items) via logical foreground-background reasoning, while ignoring all irrelevant objects within the same scene.

Our ERP results also expand previous findings by suggesting two different modules to be responsible for irrelevant object elimination from WM whose connectivity increased concomitant with irrelevancy load.
He uses his trailers and his no-spoilers obsession on us as Alfred Hitchcock used "MacGuffin", the somewhat irrelevant object after which everyone in a film chases.
Historical genre is one of our dominant literary modes: history tales with a human touch, packed with characters and telling detail, books that are subtitled "How a small and irrelevant object changed the world for ever", the ones that get serialised on Radio 4 at 9.45am.
The Colonel's old preparatory-school classmate, the former city Police Chief and onetime Director of National Security, for example, gave it the sort of cursory glance one might bestow upon an irrelevant object at a crime scene, whereas the corpulent real-estate tycoon and property developer, dressed, as always, in a tailored Panama suit, has cast several longing glances in that direction.
The finding that perceptual judgments but not visuomotor acts, such as grasping are affected by variations along an irrelevant object dimension (Garner-interference) is held up as strong evidence that vision for perception and vision for action are processed within different areas of the human brain.
