"inviting along" is a correct and usable phrase in written English
It means to ask someone to come or join along with you on an activity or event. Example: "I'm going to the concert tonight, do you want to come? You can invite along a few friends if you'd like."
Even for families vacationing closer to home than Venice, there is something to be said for inviting along a companion for a child or children.
