Evaluating participatory decision processes serves two key purposes: validating the usefulness of specific interventions for stakeholders, interveners and funders of conflict management processes, and improving practice.
Once identified, the organization must design indicators that will demonstrate the effectiveness of the capacity building intervention to stakeholders (boards of directors, funders, beneficiaries etc).. Indicators can vary by type, including process, output, outcome and impact indicators [ 51].
The renewed global commitment to PHC as the linchpin of individual and population health does not only necessitate immediate action on the findings of this study but also requires the intervention of multiple stakeholders, including: managers, syndicates and orders, the Ministries of Population Health and Social Affairs, educational and research institutions.
These decisions will depend on the type of intervention, stakeholders' expectations of the strength of the evidence and the impartiality of the assessor, data availability, limitations of existing analytic methods and the cost of assessment.
A content analysis was used to further investigate the process of determining and planning a school intervention and the roles of stakeholders in this process.
In terms of evaluation, there is a greater need for adoption of a standardized study design and development and/or adoption of instruments that will capture meaningfully the impacts of the intervention on the range of stakeholders.
For both these interventions, a national level network of stakeholders – researchers, policymakers and the media - were identified as critical to the generation, utilization and amplification of evidence respectively.
Interviews, qualitative studies, returned questionnaires and checklists should be used to gauge the success of interventions, as well as the satisfaction of stakeholders and the target community, and accordingly develop strategies towards sustainability and continuity of interventions in the existing health system.
The concrete selection of indicators will depend on the specific intervention theories and logic; interest of stakeholders; and available resources such as budget, time, and manpower.
Overall, we found that by developing the technology, we successfully (re designed the system, content and service of the web-based intervention to match the values of stakeholders.
