CONCLUSIONS This intervention significantly improved diabetes diagnostic status and reduced diabetes risk to a degree comparable to that of other low resource-intensive low resource-intensive programs and more intensive interventions applifestylendividuals with IGT.
Until now there has been no attempt to reproduce such an approach in severe sepsis despite recently published studies that have shown decreased mortality and morbidity as a result of interventions applied to patients with severe sepsis [ 2- 6].
By allowing targeted intervention, the model we describe could increase cost effectiveness compared with interventions applied to all comers, although particularly in the case of drug simplification, such interventions require further investigation considering other potential benefits beyond reduction in risk of falls.
A three-stage treatment model was developed, with tailored therapeutic interventions applied in each stage.
Those interventions applied at population level were associated with net increases of up to 3.4 percentage points in the population prevalence of cycling or the proportion of trips made by bicycle.
The upper 95th percentile from the multiple iterations of the model with no interventions applied is shown in Figure 3, along with the epidemic curves for each of the outbreaks listed in the Table.
Were the interventions clearly defined? 2 = clearly defined interventions are applied with a standardized protocol; 1 = clearly defined interventions are applied but the application protocol is not standardized; 0 = intervention and/or application protocol are poor or not defined.
Interventions applied only to index cases are rather inefficient, even with the swiftest reporting.
For example, if the same interventions are applied with R = 3.5, the median delay is extended from 17 to just 20 days (Figure 5D).
Again, the added delay decreases rapidly as R increases, and if the above interventions were applied with R = 3.5, the estimated median delay is extended from 17 to 26 days, and the importation of the epidemic is certain (Figure 5D).
A large variety of therapeutic interventions was applied, with the majority consisting of some kind of topical pharmaceutical treatment (antimycotics, antibiotics, antiseptics, corticosteroids or a combination of these); and in some studies a surgical intervention was employed (Additional file 2).
