Outcome measures were chosen to measure four components of feasibility: systematic identification of patients, trial recruitment and retention, acceptability of the Symptoms Clinic intervention and estimation of potential treatment effects.
Aim 4. To evaluate the feasibility of the PATCH intervention for a future larger clinical trial, which includes evaluation of enrollment (recruitment efficiency, attrition, problems and solutions), intervention fidelity (delivery, receipt, enactment), data collection, subject acceptability of the intervention, and estimation of effect sizes for sample size determination.
Cost-effectiveness analyses suggest that TM was an optimal strategy in most scenarios, but there is considerable uncertainty in relation to clear descriptions of the interventions and robust estimation of costs.
We did not dismiss models on the basis of a high proportion of residual error explained by heterogeneity (i.e. I), since our focus was on the associations between effect size and characteristics across a number of different interventions and not on estimation of any one intervention effect in particular.
