To understand and interpret parameters of left ventricular systolic function correctly, it is fundamental to understand how each parameter is obtained and why values obtained with different techniques, for example, ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging, can differ.
While there were no dedicated mathematicians in our group, each of us lent our own expertise to implement various modelling strategies (both to maximise the MR technique and to model the biological responses) and interpret parameters and their dynamics in their physiological context.
