Another requires Western Internet companies to store their user data inside Russia — and to turn it over at the government's request.
This week, Putin signed a law requiring internet companies to store Russian user data in-country, where intelligence services enjoy sweeping access to electronic information through telecoms companies.
The law also obliges internet providers to store all data on web users' activities for two years and make it available to the authorities upon request.
