Occupational position is a three-level variable representing high (administrative), intermediate (professional or executive), and low (clerical or support) grades.
Occupational position was defined using the British civil service employment grade as high (administrative), intermediate (professional or executive), or low (clerical or support).
Participants were then classified using the civil service employment grade classification and grouped into 3 grade categories: high (administrative), intermediate (professional or executive), and low (clerical or support).
Concerning HCPs' reported practice, being aged between 35 and 50 years, having intermediate professional training, or working at a pharmacy/drugstore, were significant determinants which added 2.15, 3.33, or 3.22 points (p < 0.05).
Factors which positively influenced the increase in reported practice were being between 35 and 50 years old, having intermediate professional training, or working at a pharmacy/drugstore (regression coefficient: 2.15, 3.33 and 3.22, respectively).
Other factors which positively influenced the increase in knowledge were being between 35 and 50 years old, having intermediate professional training, being a pharmacist or working at a village level (regression coefficient: 2.81, 4.43, 5.53 and 7.91, respectively).
For father's occupation, five categories were considered following the international classification of occupations (ISCO): managers, professionals, and intermediate professionals; craftsmen, tradesmen, and heads of firms; service workers and clerks; manual workers and other occupations; and not working (unemployed and retired) [ 34, 39].
The majority were female (54 %), white (97%%), married (62 %), and belonged to higher social classes (45 and 25%% intermediate or professional occupations, respectively).
