In this work the generation of an intermediate band of energy levels from multi-shell spherical GaAs/AlxGa1−xAs quantum dot shells-size distribution is reported.
These materials, with an intermediate band of a metallic character, are of great interest as new high-efficiency materials in solar cells.
It is reported a numerical computation of the local density of states for a δ-doped like QW superlattices of AlxGa1−xAs, as a possible heterostructure that, being integrated into a solar cell device design, can provide an intermediate band of allowed states to assist the absorption of photons with lower energies than that of the energy gap of the solar-cell constituent materials.
The electron and hole confinement, as well as the intermediate band of such quantum dot molecules, have been studied [45, 46].
Higher bands within a ladder are detectable as well as an intermediate band of approximately 900 bp in 43 strain which could correspond to Tcast2b 5-mer.

This can be used to enhance the photocurrent of a homogeneous solar cell [7 9] or to form an isolated intermediate band within the bandgap of the host material to absorb photons with energy below host material energy gap [10 13].
In addition, the separation between the two peaks suggested that they would be able to distinguish an intermediate band composed of hybrid DNA from the heavy and light bands.
