The ENN and the chaos method were integrated with hardware circuits to develop a human-machine interface fault diagnosis system designed with LabVIEW.
We applied a plate-boundary model estimated by Nakajima and Hasegawa (2006) to model the plate interface fault.
Based on the mainshock rupture patterns, the shallow (< 25 km depth) receiver faults were assigned average parameters (230° strike, 70° dip, and 150° rake), whereas a 221° strike, 12° dip, and 125° rake were considered for the deep interface fault.
We can conclude that tremendous slip in the crust-crust contact zone on the plate boundary mainly caused the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake, and that the boundary between the continental crust and the mantle on the hanging-wall side of the plate interface fault might prevent the main-shock rupture from propagating into the crust-mantle contact zone along the plate interface.

Based on these criteria each tool was evaluated against six fault categories: data faults, control faults, interface faults, measurement faults, duplicated code, and code convention violations.
Interface faults, related to problems in the interaction among software components/modules [8], are particularly relevant in service-oriented environments.
Vertical and horizontal displacements are equally weighted in the inversion analysis, because the modeling errors due to the uncertainty and heterogeneity of the physical properties of the crust, such as rigidity and Poisson's ratio, the error of the geometry of the plate-interface fault, the effect of the terrain topography, and so on, must exceed the observation errors at most GPS stations.
These results suggest an important role of local alteration of "regional" stress at the core-damage zone interface on fault hydraulic property variations with limited slip, an important finding when evaluating the loss of natural seal integrity of CO2 sequestration sites.
The amplitude of acoustic waves are affected by both the fault interface and the path in the bulk, but the easily identifiable reflection phase helps single out the interface effect.
A large (factor of 100 to 1000) transmissivity increase occurred in the fractured damage zone intervals close to the interface with the fault core.
The effect of boundary conditions and initial conditions are studied along with other important parameters that influence the problem such as the interface strength of fault surfaces and the plate movement.
