Up to now, there are no data on plasma AMH concentration in sheep, though it would be of great interest for the future selection of animals for embryo production, as well as of young animals with a high fertility in the adult age.
These methods have been used for more than 50 years in animal breeding, where identification of genetically promising individuals is of great interest for the artificial selection on relevant traits, but have only relatively recently entered the field of evolutionary ecology [reviewed in [ 19] ].

Three approaches of meta-analysis were eventually used for the selection of genes of interest.
