Within a ten-year period, nuclear bomb, jet aircraft, radar, transistors, intercontinental rockets, guided missiles, synthetic oil produced from coal, mass production of aircraft and tanks, swept wing and flying wing aircraft, stealth submarine technology, plastics industry, synthetic rubber, nylon, and synthetic fiber technologies were developed.
Fewer than 360,000 people live on the peninsula, almost all of them in the capital, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and around the military bases - nuclear submarine, air force and intercontinental rocket launch - built there for strategic reasons.

A new launch-pad being prepared in the west of the country would allow testing of intercontinental-range rockets to the south, instead of as now across the Pacific towards America, which has threatened to shoot down any that appear threatening.Where will all this lead?

"Research and development of the cutting-edge tech weapons are actively progressing and strengthening our defense capabilities, including last stage preparation of tests for intercontinental ballistic rocket launch have been continuously succeeding," Kim said, according to a CNN translation of the televised speech.
"Dear Comrade Kim Jong-un said now we can mount an ever more powerful nuclear warhead on a new intercontinental ballistic rocket," state news agency KCNA reportedly announced, "and put the den of evil in the United States, and all over the world, within our strike range".
Since then the North Korean military has tested several intermediate and intercontinental missiles and rockets, with mixed results.
It has also launched three intercontinental ballistic missiles, demonstrating rockets powerful enough to deliver warheads to all of the continental United States.
