Studies in Drosophila suggest that another aGPCR design, the CELSR homolog FMI/STAN, also relays bidirectional signaling states via heterologous cis-interactions (forward signal) (Usui et al., 1999; Chen et al., 2008; Strutt and Strutt, 2008) and homophilic trans-interactions (reverse signal) (Usui et al., 1999; Kimura et al., 2006; Chen et al., 2008).
