The serious answer is that higher education and the provision of dental services share at least three important characteristics that impact cost: both rely heavily on highly educated workers; both rely heavily on close interaction between "providers" and "customers"; and both have been made better, but not cheaper, by technology.
The barriers and drivers can be grouped under three main headings: provider context, provider costs and interaction between providers and patients.
Nowadays, there are more and more possibilities for interaction between providers and participants using Internet- and cell-phone-based interventions (e.g. [ 41]).
The interaction between providers and technology in these environments may have a profound impact on the quality of care delivered to the patient.

Our study included observations of the interactions between providers and patients to evaluate provider performance.
