The estimation of the intensity of hazard and the vulnerability of buildings to windstorms are important parts of a windstorm risk assessment model.
Compared with previous multi-hazard risk models, the expected annual multi-hazard intensity model can characterize and normalize the spatial pattern of the integrated intensity of multiple hazards and can also reflect the impact of the expected annual intensity of multiple hazards on the population spatially.
Climate change is expected to increase the frequency and intensity of current hazards and the probability of extreme events, and also to spur the emergence of new hazards (Nicholls and Lowe, 2006).
In both the upstream and downstream regions of Koyra, people at risk perceived intensified climate hazard risks over the two decades prior to 2009, particularly through increased frequency and intensity of cyclone hazards and their consequences in the form of storm surges, flash floods, and water-logging resulting from inundation (Table 3).
