In the data-dependent mode, the five most intense ions exceeding an intensity threshold of 30,000 counts were selected from each full-scan mass spectrum for tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) analysis using pulsed-Q dissociation (PQD).
"Our analysis demonstrates that under current change scenarios, the strongest atmospheric rivers are projected to become more intense and, for any given intensity threshold, more frequent, indicating an intensification of precipitation extremes," the study concludes.
For both CID- and ETD-MS/MS analysis of the digests from oxidized CN, the mass spectrometer was programmed to operate in a data-dependent mode, where each survey MS scan was followed by MS/MS of the five most intense ions (signal threshold was set at 1.0 × 10 counts).
