The company has used its mobile infrastructure to innovate a number of digital products, including solar electricity (M-Kopa), online TV and the recent launch of its M-Pesa integrated ride-hail app (Little), an Uber competitor.
According to an Uber spokesperson: "For people who choose to integrate ride sharing apps with iOS Maps, location data must be shared in order for you to request a ride inside the Maps app.
The goal is simple: to make it easier to hail an Uber — if your favorite apps integrate ride requests then you don't even need to open the Uber app to get a ride.
"As we have worked with Google to integrate Assistant, it's really made us excited about how to make the user experience as simple as possible and how voice technology can be integrated while riding," Electron VP James Parker told TechCrunch.
Tencent invested in Didi before the merger, and, as part of that deal, it integrated the ride-hailing service into WeChat, its popular messaging app with over 500 million active users worldwide, which gave the service a major advantage over Kuaidi.
He's working with his team to integrate the ride exchanges promised within Didi and Ola and to make many more partnerships functional using the Lyft API.
Lyft provides API access to these partners and their platforms, and with Allscripts, it's going to integrate its ride hailing system into their open health platform as well as their electronic health records (EHR) services.
"We're also looking at integrating ride-sharing and car-pooling — either with our own platform or via a partnership".
