This has been deemed a "nutrient of public health concern" because of the health risks associated with low intake and the fact that the vast majority of Americans don't get enough.
But as the output from these two competing processes is integrated, the net result is an increasing reduction of nocturnal food intake, despite the fact that spontaneous meals are initiated with the same frequency as in control animals.
The problem in assessing intake is the fact that the same mushroom species when processed or cooked in various ways, the leakages/leaching of minerals could be anticipated.
Another limitation is dietary assessment using the 24-h recall questionnaire due to the misreporting of food intake and the fact of not being too precise, what can cause bias to the results.

A major concern in assessing salt intake are the facts that it is a natural component of most foods, and that it can also be added during cooking or at the table in amounts that people usually ignore or are unable to report accurately (Chen et al, 1990).
The relation of these beverages to obesity can be attributed to the increased caloric intake and to the fact that beverages do not suppress the intake of other foods to an appropriate degree thus beverage calories serve as "add-on" calories enhancing the risk of obesity (12) (Fig. 1).
This is to our knowledge the first study among healthy young men with detailed information on alcohol intake and, given the fact that young men in the western world have a high alcohol intake, this is of public health concern and could be a contributing factor to the low sperm count reported among young men.
