For invertebrates, it has however been argued [13] that the barcoding gap may be an artifact of insufficient sampling across taxa.
(ii) To test that low PIPn values were due to unstable profile affiliations related to an insufficient number of taxa, we randomly removed half and three quarter of the species in each clade of the large mitochondrial dataset and recomputed PIPn.
This hybrid-specific haplotype could be a product of intercrossing among hybrids and fast evolutionary rate at a microsatellite site, or due to insufficient sampling of parental taxa.
