The other $3 million will go toward funding full-time technology instructors and supporting 50 "digital classrooms" that are equipped with laptops.
We anticipate that by creating instructor-learning communities committed to teaching students with active learning, the MALT program will build individual instructors' competence and support a shift in the undergraduate biology paradigm.
Feedback on surveys administered to the 2-yr instructors, students, and support staff reflected a need for additional training during implementation.
In response, we revised our original implementation strategy to specifically include additional educational resources for students, instructors, and lab support coordinators (Table 2).
Internet-based education, which has been defined as using the Internet to deliver and access learning materials, interact with other learners and instructors, and obtain support during the learning process [ 5], is becoming increasingly popular in higher education.
