Over the last three-and-a-half years, since the consortium team was put into Woolworth with the support of City institutions, the group's record of earnings per share and profit increase had been higher than Dixons.
Then, with personal information harvested from those networks – and with access to the emails of "top managers" at financial institutions – the group began emailing people it believed could be fooled into investing in stocks the organization would artificially inflate.
Aside from the building's size and location, near many other financial institutions, the group said it was chosen as it is owned by a major bank, and one which was bailed out by taxpayers, albeit those in Switzerland.
In a survey of 77 institutions, the group said hundreds of students and faculty members did not reach their universities in time for the start of fall classes because of visa delays.
"In most O.E.C.D. countries young women are now more likely than young men to obtain first degrees from university-level institutions," the group announced in its annual survey of educational policy.
Besides local industries and institutions, the group collaborates with universities in the ASEAN region, East Asia, Europe, and North America.
There is one area where white men don't lead the pack: At 4-year academic institutions, the group with the highest median salary 13 or 14 years after earning a Ph.D. is Asian men, who earn close to $93,000.
With 1,800 member institutions, the group touts itself as the nation's most "influential higher education association".
Timothy F. Geithner, who as president of the New York Federal Reserve Bank oversaw many of the nation's most powerful financial institutions, stunned the group with the audacity of his answer.
The banking group said that Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, the leading institution within the group, was due to report a loss of 150 billion yen ($1.2 billion) instead of a profit of 90 billion yen.
