The phrase "instead of he" is grammatically correct and can be used in written English
It is typically used to indicate that someone or something is being replaced or substituted in a situation. For example: - Instead of him, I will be attending the meeting. - She decided to buy a new phone instead of fixing her old one. - Instead of John, Sarah will be in charge of the project. In these examples, the phrase "instead of" is used to show that the person or thing mentioned after it is being chosen or used in place of the one mentioned before it. It can also be used as part of a longer phrase, such as "instead of him doing it" or "instead of her going with us."
