An example of the former is insertion of an interleukin gene and of the latter, insertion of a tumor- or tissue-specific promoter [ 3, 4].
The former contained 10 single nucleotide polymorphisms, one 8 bp deletion, one 1 bp deletion and one 6 bp insertion, while the latter consisted of only five single nucleotide polymorphisms, one 2 bp deletion and one 1 bp insertion.
In the present report we describe a technical development whereby even faster chromosomal assignment of transgenic insertions at the single cell level in mouse and rat can be obtained by an efficient, combined hybridization procedure for Multiplex FISH (M-FISH) and the detection of transgene insertions, the latter of which are easily labeled with ultra-bright Quantum Dot (QD) conjugates.
Interestingly, strains of lineage III displayed an average of 56 genes inside these loci, while strains of lineage I and II contained nearly twice as many (80 90), indicating either stronger deleterious forces in the former or an increased number of insertions in the latter.
Design: A randomised single-blind controlled design was used to evaluate effects of EA and extremely superficial needle insertion, with the latter serving as a near-placebo control.
