22There is no one-to-one mapping of the degrees considered to face insertion difficulties and the values of the degree variables in the GTS (partly because the value labels for the most detailed degree variable were not available).
Problems commonly encountered include obstruction of the femoral vein by the catheter, insertion difficulties, safety concerns when cannulating the subclavian vein in coagulopathy, and catheter and circuit occlusion due to disseminated intravascular coagulation.
