Online visitors can overlay simple road maps and insert a relief map background.
Insert shows a map of the study area and locations of the samples used in this study: Late Pleistocene bowhead whale subfossil samples (blue squares); Early Holocene bowhead whale subfossil samples22 (blue circles); and Early Holocene right whale subfossils (purple circles).

One example offers the ability to insert a Google map into a live web page without any coding.
You can now easily geotag tweets (presumably this will work with the Twitter Geolocation API when it goes live, but for now it inserts a Google Map link), search for hashtags to include, and even search the people you follow to find someone to @ reply to (this is very nice).
A map inserted in the program specifies not just which of the many volunteers made which lamp but also how many thousands of miles the fish might have traveled in its migrations.
You can also attach a link to a location on a map by inserting an actual address in those same brackets.
A map of elements not inserted (not_inserted_elements) is used to store the identifiers of the elements that were not inserted and the list of elements that reference them.
