One limitation of this research is its cross-sectional design which precludes an examination of the underlying processes of innovation initiation, implementation and diffusion, as a longitudinal study would have done.
Given we are interested in examining an innovation implemented by individual physicians, we needed to modify the innovation implementation framework to ensure that the constructs were relevant at the individual level [ 24].
