While hundreds of citizen initiative measures have appeared on the California ballot, this is the first time a statewide officeholder has been recalled.
The initiative measures items that test the "customer" engagement of alumni, including their emotional attachment to their educational experience and includes crucial demographic information such as race, gender, household income, profession, student loan debt, whether respondents have started or plan to start a business, and whether they were first-generation college students, among other items.
The initiative measure will appear on the same special election ballot as the recall.

"As soon as Oregonians got beneath the surface of Ballot Measure 23, they realized how flawed it was," said Dave Fiskum, a spokesman for Oregon Against Unhealthy Taxes, after the initiative was defeated 79percentto21percentcent.
But, he wrote, the legal right of people to call themselves married is only one of the rights granted to same-sex couples in the decision last May, and so "it is only the designation of marriage — albeit significant — that has been removed by this initiative measure".
