These results showed that the proportion of variable aa sites was 71.70% for DPD1, 44.75% for RPB1, and 36.51% for RPB2, and that the parsimony-informative proportions were 62.77%, 33.83% and 26.55%, respectively (Table 1).
First, although about 92% of third codon positions were parsimony informative, the proportion of informative sites present in first and second codon positions was 55% and 41%, respectively.
This intermediate proportion is informative primarily because a small proportion can indicate split distributions.
