For the purpose of this project, we defined a methodologist as an individual having an affiliation with a department of statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, clinical epidemiology or public health services, as determined by author information and affiliations listed in the publication.
In addition to registration codes that categorize ownership, our dataset provides information about affiliation codes that distinguish the government levels to which a firm is affiliated (i.e., levels of central government, provincial government, prefectural and city government, county government, and township and village government).

Once those authors had been identified we researched all the records downloaded from the initial search by author name to collect additional records that had poor or no information on affiliation.
For example, information on affiliation in Scopus is not regularly available for all authors, sometimes abbreviations are used (e.g. Dpt. Gen. Pract)., and in a few cases typing errors lead to missing a study.
Once we had identified authors with the highest output volume, we searched all retrieved records again for additional records using the name rather than just relying on information about affiliation.
And information about gang affiliations, which I guess refers to tattoos.
