Over the decade, net shareholder inflows amounted to approximately $407 billion, or 11% of the $3.67 trillion in net shareholder payouts by S&P 500 firms.
Trends during the first five months of 2007 indicate that this flood is continuing, with net FII inflows amounting to US$4.6bn.
Net inflows amounted to $31 billion for the year, according to TASS Research, the information and research unit of Tremont Advisers, the highest since the firm began tracking hedge-fund money in 1994.
Global interest rates will probably continue to rise but, says the report, that tightening will probably result in a slowdown in capital inflows amounting to less than 1% of emerging-market GDP from 2013 to 2016.
Another reason is that foreign-currency investment trusts, now sold at banks, are becoming less alien: last year inflows amounted to ¥19.8 trillion, a sixfold rise from 2000.Analysts are used to believing that Japan's currency is moved by banks and brokers.
Results also reveal that (i) the system uncertainties would significantly affect water resources allocation pattern (including target and shortage); (ii) water shortage would be enhanced from 2016 to 2070; and (iii) the more the inflow amount decreases, the higher estimated water shortage rates are.
This financial inflow amounted to 8.7% of the GDP in 2006.
Nevertheless, the developed model is more sensitive to decreasing inflow discharge amount than to increasing it.
For the last several years, both emerging and frontier funds enjoyed inflows, with the total amount invested in both categories increasing by more than 20 percent, said Brad Durham, managing director of EPFR Global in Cambridge, Mass.
Net inflows to stocks amount to $27.75 billion this calendar year, he said, and barring a big shock, they are likely to continue.
