Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autoinflammatory condition, which is characterized by acute, self-limiting episodes of fever and serositis and chronic subclinical inflammation in remission.
In 2 patients with relapses, remnant inflammation after remission had been noticed.
High point CAI-scores correspond with a high activity of inflammation, with remission being defined as a CAI score of ≤ 4. Since erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) is not routinely measured at our hospital, C-reactive protein (CRP) values reflecting similar activity were used as a proxy [ 33].
