Perivascular and peribronchial edema, leukocytic infiltration of alveolar spaces, and leukocyte stasis and attachment to the tunica intima of the vascular walls were modestly observed in the ULV group, especially in the right atelectatic lung (Fig. 3c, d, e).
Indeed, we found no difference between the compared groups in terms of the BALF total cell number and infiltration of alveolar spaces by neutrophils.
