In addition, we have added the following new perspectives to the analysis of the IEQ: (i) defining IEQ43 as subjective burden [ 3] and using it as a dependent variable; and (ii) analyzing the relationship of indices of objective QOL with burden.
Hence, it is important to assess the relationship of indices of objective QOL (i.e., living situation, finances, and social relationships), and indices of psychological well -being, such as self-esteem, positive affect (i.e., positive mood states), and negative affect (i.e., negative mood states), with scores on domains of service satisfaction.
We created a single, ordinal, composite index of objective health, based on the 3-category version of the following variables: functional status in basic ADLs (Barthel index, three categories); number of chronic conditions (0 1; 2–3; ≥4); and cognitive status (non-impaired; mild-to-moderate impairment; and severe impairment).
