2In our sample, 4.3 per cent of plants report "no pressure from competition at all", 11.1 per cent "minor pressure from competition", 38.5 per cent "medium pressure from competition", and 46.1 per cent "substantial pressure from competition", where we take the latter category as an indicator of strong competition in the plant's product market.
It therefore seems that the number of competitors is no indicator of competitive pressure and that for many pharmacists competition is still not an issue at all.
This resulting pattern could represent a preliminary indicator of potential competition between U. virgata (or perhaps other native grasses) and woody vegetation that could ultimately limit the ability of the grass to disperse in the long run, but investigating such a premise is beyond the scope of this study.
