In research on population and patient behaviour, social cognitive theories, though successful at determining intentions as indicators of behaviour in longitudinal studies, failed to explain 50 60% of the variance in actual behaviour relative to intention.
These data will be gathered using questionnaires and tests in their first language (English or French) designed to measure mental skills and behaviour in two ways: (1) indicators of behaviour and functional abilities and (2) measurements of mental and social skills.

While health knowledge is an important prerequisite for achieving changes in behaviour it is often a poor indicator of actual behaviour changes; in this context, it is intended in future studies to investigate changes in attitudes and intentions to change behaviour, as these are better indicators of future behaviour change.
It has been shown that using single-item self-reports or selecting only television viewing as an indicator of sedentary behaviour does not estimate the broad range of sedentary behaviours in which children participate [ 12, 13].
