Contra-indications for exercise testing, based on the Exercise Preparticipation Screening questionnaire or from consultation with the burn physician, may lead to exclusion on the cardiopulmonary exercise test.
25 Exercise will be terminated if participants are fatigued or earlier if they fulfil the ACSM's guidelines for 'Indications for terminating Exercise Testing'.
Exclusion criteria comprise contra-indications for progressive exercise training, i.e. inability to walk or stand, instable bone lesions, severe neurological deficiencies, severe cardiac or cardiovascular diseases and severe pulmonary global insufficiency.
Indications for cessation of exercise included: pulse limit, exhaustion, chest pain, ST segment depression >2 mm.
The indications are the same as for exercise MPI, but refer to patients who are not able to or who are expected to be unable to achieve ≥ 85%% of maximal age-predicted heart rate during exercise.
