The results indicate that ventilation shafts, window-to-wall ratio and building orientation should be applied in future construction.
In this paper, we present an approach to minimising the cost of sensing by recognising that researchers are often not interested in the raw data itself but rather some inferred performance metric (e.g. high CO2 levels may indicate poor ventilation).
Thus it might be that this simpler and more homogeneous lung structure in the BPD infants would lead to lower "baseline" LCI and that the normal LCI measured in these infants in fact indicate increased ventilation inhomogeneity.
Dampness problems may also indicate low ventilation rate and consequently increased levels of indoor pollutants from interior surfaces or human activities.
Moreover, while the expiratory flow curves in Figure 4 indicate that ventilation with He/O2 eliminated end-expiratory gas trapping that occurred with air for the case shown, in the majority of cases studied, no end-expiratory gas trapping developed, neither for air nor He/O2.

The worse oxygenation and higher airway pressures needed to maintain oxygenation, at similar PLI, EVLW and tidal volume, after thoracic trauma than major surgery may thus indicate greater ventilation to perfusion mismatching in atelectatic areas associated with densities on the plain radiograph.
Wysocki and colleagues [ 28] in a review on closed-loop ventilation indicate that closed-loop ventilation is becoming stronger and that studies now available support the hypothesis that patient outcome is improving because of the use of closed-loop ventilation.
This is in agreement with previous studies [ 36, 37] that indicated that ventilation with the bag-valve-mask may result in ineffective ventilation.
In addition, the authors showed that the dependent region was slower inflated as compared with the non-dependent region, indicating inhomogeneous ventilation of the dorsal lung parts; however, they used the SDs of the RVD index to create a ventilation homogeneity map [ 21].
