A Harvard Business Review study found that brands with a simple purchase-decision journey experienced an 86% increase in purchases, 9% increase in repurchases and 115% increase in recommendations to others.
Statistically significant was an increase in recommendations to broaden therapy (Table 1) and nonstatistically significant was a reduction in recommendations to de-escalate therapy (5-day mean 1.4 recommendations/100 patient-days, 3-day mean 1.2 recommendations/100 patient-days; P = 0.601).
The decline in incidence, and hence mortality, from colorectal cancers is most likely attributable to an increase in recommendations to perform routine screening on average risk individuals and to improved screening techniques [ 2].

When current cholesterol guidelines were applied by VA/DoD and ACC/AHA criteria, increases in recommendations for statins were found in all groups (57.3% and 66.1% of HIV-infected, 64.4% and 73.7% of HCV-infected, 49.1% and 58.5% of HIV/HCV-coinfected veterans recommended).Statins were underutilized among veterans infected with HIV, HCV, and HIV/HCV according to previous ATP-III guidelines.
When those with clinically significant results were compared with those included in a narrow classification of uncertain results (ie, only 'clear' uncertain results in this classification), we found a marginal increase in the recommendation rate (RRnarrow=1.12; 95% CI (1.02 1.24)).
These returns are, on average 1.12% lower than the returns obtained by other products available to plan sponsors, which are not recommended by consultants.Worse still, fund managers that experience an increase in consultant recommendations over time perform worse than those that suffer a reduction in recommendations.
Recent Canadian statistics, based on physician drug recommendations from 2005 to 2009, show a 48% increase in clozapine recommendations over a 5-year period [ 10]; however, a more recent report determined that 68% of an outpatient population had tried 3 or more antipsychotics before switching to clozapine [ 26].
