Increased data yield makes repeated sequencing of the same molecule, and thus duplicates, more likely in PCR amplified libraries [ 19].
While we would not normally expect such a dramatic increase in data yield, based on our prediction of data loss for two initially biased sequences (Fig. 3A), we were able to fully rescue an otherwise completely failed Illumina run using bareback processing.
Numbers of reads for a given sequence methodology have been empirically ascertained, beyond which increased sequence data yield little or no further variant information [ 1].
The recursive approach increases the mapped data yield while maintaining exon mapping specificity (Supplementary Fig. 2), extracting as much value as possible from the experiment.
Notably, higher concentrations of the substrate oil (1 to 5 mM) or H2O2 (1 to 15 mM) were also tested; however, the alkene yields did not increase (data not shown).

For whom will data yield actionable outcomes?
Our data yield three major conclusions.
Employing this parameter value for re-classification of the training data yielded an increased Matthews correlation of mcc = 0.82.
The Fisher-Ford method used on the July data yielded generally increasing estimates of population size, from around 5,000 females at the very start of the experiment to unrealistic values between about 50,000 and 275,000 female by the end, depending on the assumed survival rate.
