These are based on statistical models of burglary incidents (counts) from the respective 1994 and 2008/09 CSEW sweeps.
With the incidents counted correctly, violent crime in the city was 7% higher than the LAPD reported in the period from 2005 to fall 2012, and the number of serious assaults was 16% higher, the analysis found.
The group, which says it's the only organization to collect data on such incidents, counted nearly 120 violent attacks against homeless people in 2010, up from less than half that number just eight years before.
